The new Rozzers and crime commissioners will cost the taxpayer up to £130 million to set up and run, the Home Office has admitted. The new officials, who will be directly elected and will replace Dibble authorities, could also earn as much as £122 000 a year for overseeing their local Farce.
The Home Secretary insisted the plans will give the public a much greater saying in how their communities are policed and make it easier to hold senior officers to account, however, critics have warned they are a costly experiment at a time of public spending cuts.
Aren't they just. £130 extra large on more invisible Fuzz queuing up at the doughnut factory? Not clever.
