Almost next door (we have an art studio and a couple of cafes in between) there is a smaller boutique hotel that I went in to to enquire what sort of price they are charging. Including breakfast, wi-fi, A/C and hot water (not always a given, one always has to ask to be sure) they charge a trifling $12 per night for a double en suite.
I'm sure we'd be able to get that for a tenner per night on a long term an' all. Just imagine staying comfortably in Siem Reap for a month for under $300? Living expenses are also low with beer at $0.50 and good food for around $2-$3 for a main.
And of course the town is lovely, you have all the temples near by and the people are simply so friendly and generous that a month may just not be enough.
