Round Two. Hang On, What?

SIR ALEX Ferguson has sounded a warning to Barcelona that his players will not be giving up hope after their 3-1 defeat to Barcelona, accusing the Spanish side of celebrating too soon.
The Manchester United boss says he has confidence in his players to overturn the deficit in Spain, just as soon as they find out the date of the second leg.

“We have been in worse positions and come back in the past,” said Ferguson. “This is no different to that famous night in Turin or the time we turned up to The Dell in a grey kit. We just need to concentrate on getting the four away goals we need. How difficult can it be?”
Barcelona controlled the match at Wembley and won 3-1 with ease but many commentators believe they are acting like they have already won it, particularly by putting medals around their necks and lifting the trophy.

“They are going to look a right bunch of idiots if United turn this around,” said Sky’s Gary Neville.

“And they are likely to have a weakened side in Spain due to the fact all of their players have now gone away on their summer holidays. Xavi and Iniesta are going to struggle to exchange passes between Majorca and Sicilly, they’ll have to be a lot more direct.”

However, there is bad news for Ferguson, as Paul Scholes was ruled out of the second leg with retirement. Ferguson has refused to confirm if this will keep him out of the beginning of next season.
