Leaving Our Mark

Our hotel bar is a friendly, cosy and enjoyable venue to have a couple of drinks, compare travel notes with like minded people or to simply watch your team play on the big screen.  It's open 24 hours and while it is not manned by staff after around midnight, the guys on Reception will happily come around the back to pass out a cold brew when asked to.  Alternatively, the bar staff also help out in the restaurant and so may be missing from the bar for lengths of time.

And therein lies a problem.

Being regulars at the hotel we know the rules and what to do but new guests are sometimes left lingering and waiting to get served when there is no one around.  Instead of asking someone, they invariably walk off and to me that is a sale lost and revenue the hotel needs to pick.

We came up with a simple solution and purchased a wire-free door bell which plugs into an electrical socket out in the back and has a bell push button (water proof at that) which can be left on the bar top.  A simple note requesting the guest to push the button for service completes the job and now no one should go thirsty.  :o)
