Oh, Do Get a Grip

Hallowe'en enthusiasts were warned to take care when apple bobbing by an eye specialist who said injuries and infections can occur.

The traditional party game can lead to scratches of the surfaces of the eye and infections from dirty water.  Because the apple floats on the surface of the water the participant often tries to bite it quickly or force it to the bottom which can cause injuries.  The "expert" continued by saying:

"Staff in eye casualty have seen incidents in the past on Halloween of children and adults turning up with scratches on the cornea and blunt eye injury from impacts caused by apple bobbing.  And in addition to these types of injury, there is the possibility of people contracting potentially serious corneal infections from dirty water or residue of liquids if bowls aren’t cleaned properly.”

This is getting bloody ridiculous.  How can such bollocks even get reported?  More at TTel (and check out the comments, they're even better  :o)).
