Top Hotel Peeves

We post up a load of "top tens" and so it's time we made up one of our own, on a subject we have a little experience on,  ktelontour's "crappy things hotel do to save a bit of cash"- in no order:

• only allow power in the room once a key is inserted into a slot.  I know air conditioning is expensive, but we also like to keep the fridge on and not see our laptop drain the battery.
• rooms are too dark, lighting is poor and there are no/shared bedside lamps.  Again, done to save electricity but frustrating when you want to read in bed and it's a 5W bulb.
• Charging for the internet.  It doesn't cost you any more if 1 or 100 people are using it, so stop being so greedy.
• Not providing hand towels/threadbare towels.  No hand towels  What's that all about then?
• Do Not Disturb signs- missing or ignored.  You really do not want to knock onour door or try and get in when we snoozing.  Have you met a tired wifey?
• Pillows- charging for an extra one, not providing extra ones when specifically requested in advance by email or being the size of breeze blocks.  Let's have comfortable feather pillows that are flat, please.
• Housekeeping chatting away outside your door at 06:00 or leaving their walkie-talkie on full volume by the cart.  Stop it immediately.
• Not enough power sockets, especially near to the desk top where one needs then for the lappie.  Ditto no socket in the bathroom for the electric toothbrush, the most essential of travel companions.
• Misrepresenting facilities, room size, location or any aspect of what the place offers on its web page.  And that includes trick photography...
• Mini bar prices.  I mean really, do you really think we're going to pay $5 for a tin of Coke?  What's the point?

 I'm sure there are plenty more to consider, but we can always do another and call it part II.
