A lovely tradition in Thailand is to nominate the second Saturday of each January to the children. They can do as they please (within reason I suspect), ride the BTS train for free all day long (if under 1.4m tall) and can visit government businesses and buildings for guided tours. Even banks get a but friendlier and invite the kids in and they can open an account with a free THB 50 incentive.
