Chairman of Haringey Conservatives Justin Hinchcliffe accused Labour councillors of hypocrisy, preferring to cut vital services in order to blame the Government. He added:
“This decision shows how they always put themselves first rather than the people of Haringey whom they are meant to serve.”
Alan Dobbie, a former Tory councillor and ex-Mayor, said the old chairs were “perfectly fine”, but a council spokesburd said the chairs had to be replaced as they were wobbly, unstable and in poor condition- making them a health and safety risk. She said the decision to replace the chairs was made before the cuts were announced.
If it's not the terrorism card, it's always health and safety, isn't it? How dull and unimaginative.
*Why not got to Ikea, got to be at least a third of that price.
