After this weekend's walkout of the Muttahida Quami Movement (MQM) from the coalition Government with the PPP (Pakistan People's Party), once again we have fresh political tremors and spats to add to the already volatile instability of the country.
However, it's just turned even uglier as Salman Taseer was shot dead today by one of his bodyguards outraged over the governor's opposition to blasphemy laws.
Taseer, a senior member of the governing PPP, had recently angered Islamists by appealing for a Christian woman, sentenced to death for blasphemy, to be pardoned. The woman had been sentenced for allegedly insulting the Prophet Muhammad.
What hope for this country if supposedly educated people lead by such examples? Even more worrying, Pakistan has nuclear arms...
