We only have a rough idea of what flights cost in Sterling as the currency transactions vary depending on which airports we use (so Baht for Bangkok, Ringgit for Malaysia, etcetera) but by logging on to our UK bank, this will give us the exact prices in GBP and I can then update our Excel file cash tracker, so we know where we stand with our rapidly depleting (small) pile of wedge.
As some of you may also know, I have (more than) a touch of OCD and part of my "charm" is to ensure that once the accounts have cleared of pending transactions, I "clean" up any odd figures at the Nationwide and transfer them over to Shitander. There are two reasons for this:
(a) to ensure my OCD is satisfied we have exact (and whole) numbers as a closing balance at the Nationwide.
(b) to piss off the Shitander, (the worst bank we have ever had to endure) with dribs and drabs of pennies coming into (or out of) our account with them. Any financial traffic in/out of our account has just got to cost them some money, so that gives me great satisfaction.
Look, I never said I was normal- I am that "special" child in the class. Anyway, because of this odd habit, I always know to the pound what our balances at the NW are and yesterday I saw that we had had the sum of £10.34 withdrawn out of our account the previous day and it only said "branch or ATM withdrawal".
Very odd, because we haven't used the ATM in BKK for a couple of weeks and nor had we been in to a branch as we were living 7 000 miles away...
Panic ensued.
