Leaving Day

Have two weeks really shot by so quickly?  It feels like only yesterday when we alighted off the train to be met by Michael, ,our driver sent over to collect us and take us to meet Shaz and Dave (and numerous other new pals) in Calangute.

I wasn't sure if I was going to like beach front town (flicking idly throw an old copy of Lonely Planet on morning,Calangute was described as the Blackpool of Goa; they're not far wrong) but I was happily disappointed.  We've had a marvellous time and had a great break from our "travel mode" and simply taken a holiday.

Swimming in refreshing waters, feeling proper sandy beaches between the toes, eating truly authentic local cuisine (and rather excellent western fare for a change) and taking in all the atmos of a bustling, thriving and hectic town that is as much home to the locals the invading sun-worshipping tourist.

Heck, I even slung a leg over a motorised two wheeler and had fun dicing with the local traffic.

Best of all though is that we have met p with family and friends after many years apart and it's been wonderful.. The conversation never fails, we've shared belly laughs and all in all, we now feel refreshed and ready to take on another epic 15 hour train journey as we begin another leg of the tour through India.
