A British immigration worker tried to get rid of his wife by adding her to the list of suspected terrorists, something he could do easily as he had the proper security clearance in accordance with his job.
When the man’s wife was trying to fly home from visiting family in Pakistan, British officials would not allow her to board the airplane, and would not tell her why, only saying that her presence in Britain was “not conducive to the public good”
She was unable to leave Pakistan for three years.
However, when the same guy applied for a promotion (which required higher security clearance than he already had) the vetting process discovered the chap’s wife was listed on the terrorist watch list. He 'fessed up to altering the list in order to keep his wife in Pakistan and not only did he not gain promotion, he was sacked on the spot.
No mention was made of whether his wife did eventually get back to England.
