Is without doubt our most favourite baker in Bangkok and luckily they have several outlets. Their rolls and French loaves are second to none and also reasonably priced- if you can find stock on their shelves. As soon as a fresh batch of breads are hauled out of the oven, people snap them up; it's really right place, right time.
Which is why I was chuffed to see some French sticks available and so gleefully grabbed one and queued to pay. I was just getting served when a rather large, plump "gentleman" waddled up to the from of the queue with a fist full of Baht, pointing at something on the counter without saying a word.
I smiled and enquired as to where he was from and he replied the US of A. I said "figures" and he asked what I meant. So I told him.
I asked why he felt he had the right to queue jump? He looked taken aback and muttered about having the right money for some cakes and he wouldn't be long and so I then told him that that was no reason and what a typical action from an American. Not considering others, thinking only of themselves and didn't he make a fine advert for his bullying country?
He didn't like that, but the lady behind me did and was now quietly smiling to herself. Especially as the cashier then asked the man to wait, while she served her instead of him. :o)
A small victory perhaps, a foolish thing to do quite possibly (one of these days I am really going to get my head kicked in) but manners maketh the man and someone had to point out the error of his ways.
Tosser.
