Calling the UK- Part 2

While waiting for our bank to get back to us, I rang my parents as I noticed them going on line with Skype (the pop up is very handy with the time zone difference) and it was then that my father said a letter from the Nationwide had literally just arrived.

....Referring us to a SWIFT transaction we had made at the beginning of December - now informing me that they would now have to take additional funds from our current account to cover additional expenses.

Yes, you guessed it, £10.34...

I was not at all pleased that it had taken over five weeks to claim this additional fee and that having already paid £25 for the transfer at the time (and been heavily stiffed on the exchange rate), we had another tenner to cough.  When we send over cash from New Zealand to Bangkok, all we get charged is NZ$25 (just over a tenner) and that's it.

You can be sure we will not be using the NW to transfer funds internationally again- it's ridiculously expensive and if New Zealand can do it for ten quid, how can our English bank justify over £35?

Mind you, at least we got to the bottom of things and after yet another frantic call to the fraud squad, we have managed to get everything sorted out without the need to cancel cards or worry about a bogus withdrawal.
