If there was one single aspect of our trip that has ruined it, aside from the empty promises or default mode of "yes" and delivering nowt, it is the constant use of the horn.
Unnecessary, intrusive, incomprehensible and down right bloody ignorant.
It's come to the point where I am sick to death of hearing horns from anyone on a powered vehicle that thinks they are enhancing their driving skills (and don't get me wrong, their driving is truly appalling) and I am yearning to get away.
I can't begin to describe how painful and jarring it is to walk along the road (pavements either don't exist, are full of parked bikes and cars or are being used for trading) when everyone is reaching for the horn by default.
They say India is the next emerging nation and will be a force to be reckoned with. Hardly, since most people cannot master simple roadcraft. While they continue to carry this notion of "beep the horn, I am king of the road", the rest of the world has nothing to fear. They'll hear them coming from miles away...
