Almost 1.3 million people across Europe could die from cancer this year, an increase of 25 000 in four years, but lung cancer rates are declining in the UK.
While lung cancer deaths among women are growing across Europe, the exception is in Britain where rates are levelling off, possibly owing to the impact of hard hitting anti-smoking campaigns. Cancer survival rates are also rising, with more men and women living to tell their stories.
Let's hope the trend continues.
