Mantri Square

Reputedly India's biggest shopping mall, this place is big but no different to the many places we have seen on our travels.  Indeed, while Bangkok may not have the largest, they certainly have the most and can cater to everyone's tastes.

Still, Mandri Square was a welcome diversion from the normal shopping experiences to date as we have not come across one single supermarket to date and we have to use to local shops to pick up drinks and snacks.  These are fine but do not offer much selection or choice- and of course they will always be more expensive.

The mall is massive and comfortably air conditioned throughout.  It has plenty of dining options from a la carte western cuisines to superb local dishes but again, I found them expensive compared to the little diners we have outside the hotel.

All the range of western brands are present and correct and they have department stores, electrical outlets, boutiques, a cinema, bowling lanes, exhibitions and plenty of other stuff to keep you occupied for a few hours.  Best of all, they have a large Spar underneath which was a welcome treat and allowed us to grab a few bits to bring back.

Bagel and cream cheese anyone?  We can't have curry all the time, you know.  :o)
