Oh, But the Food

We thought we'd seen it all when we went into a local dosa bar and had a delicious semi-meal-cum-snack, consisting of a masala dosa (filled with crushed potato) and a couple of dips, one spicy (the masala and one coconut in style and one rice with similar accompaniments.  Chuck in a large bottle of water and a Coke and we had a delicious scran out for less than a quid for the two of us.

That was nothing compared to the little gem we found in the evening, down the other way.  I can't recall the name (did I even know it?) but as we looked at the menu out on the street, we looked up and saw someone beckoning us to take the stairs to come up.  So we did.

Very cosy with just basic table and chairs (most still with raggedy cellophane still attached from five years ago) we were stunned by the array of items on the menu for both "veg & non-veg" (Indian speak) dishes.

In the end we plumped for the must-have-with-every-meal dahl (or wifey gets grumpy from withdrawal symptoms), a cauliflower (gobi) chilli fry, a green peas masala and rice and roti to feed the five thousand.  Including pickle and extra green chillies (offered but politely declined, their masala was plenty hot) it was better than the food we have been eating in Anand Sagar in Calangute.  And at least half the price.

We paid just INR 160, which is under £2.25!  We'll be gong back not just because of the food and prices, but the staff were fantastic too.  See you for lunch, boys.
