Despite the delay but with the aid of the dongle/email set up and Arun's mobile phone, we were able to meet our driver and drop our friend off en route before arriving at the Amshi Hotel. It took perhaps just over 30 minutes in snarled up traffic with everyone using their horns to "state the bleedn' obvious".
As mentioned, we had a few concerns over the initial rooms but are now happily settled and had a very good night's sleep, even of the mattress was overly soft and sprung loaded. I miss my hard foam bedding. With two low slung pillows and crisply starched sheets, it didn't take us long to drop off.
