Long Live Happiness

We become happier when we grow older, at least, according to scientists who claim our best years do not arrive until our late seventies and eighties.   Satisfaction and optimism steadily increase after middle age, easily eclipsing the earlier years and peaking as late as the eighties, according to research.

An easing of the responsibilities of middle age combined with maturity and the ability to focus on the things we enjoy combine to make old age far more enjoyable than one might expect.  This is greatly increased by having good health, a stable income and good relationships with family and friends, according to scientists.

I happen to agree that I get happier as I get older for most of the reasons outlined above, but with my lifestyle it's difficult not to be happy. I'm also good at looking for things to be happy about. The only downside is that there is no way I will ever make it to old age and certainly nowhere near my "three score and ten".

My "live for now; worry about things later" motto will put paid to that, but again, my choice to enjoy my time now, not at some later date when I may not be able to.  :o)
