Be careful with your camera around the Louvre. This is the Louvre Pyramid, which opened in 1989, to the fury not only of architectural conservationists but of filmmakers. Why? Because any director who wants to feature the inner courtyard of the Louvre in their movie now has to pay royalties to the Pyramid’s architect, I.M. Pei. This is why films set in Paris linger so lovingly on the old monuments – they’re free. Get a modern building in your shot, though, and it will add a fortune to your budget.
An on-going, almost daily, commentary on our travel experiences, tips and thoughts as we arrive and live in countries and places most people can only dream of. Given time, we also like to take an off-beat look at what's been making the news back in the UK or locally and so we end up taking the piss... a lot.
