Psychologists believe that people who use their holiday allowance in bursts rather than all in one go are happier. People who take so-called mini-breaks have more happy memories than those who holiday for an extended period of time, they claimed.

We used to take a load of "mini" breaks over the year and made the most of them. Living close to Heathrow, Stansted and Gatwick enabled us to jaunt off to Europe on long weekends and it wasn't overly long before we could look forward to the next one.
