Plans to increase Air Passenger Duty (APD) have been delayed until 2012 following the budget,but further increases remain on the horizon.
Gorgeous also added that a switch to a “per plane” rather than a “per passenger” tax was currently impossible due to international law.

It had previously been reported that this year’s increases to APD (scheduled by the previous Labour Government) may be scrapped entirely. The Chancellor also said the “arbitrary” banding system used to calculate the level of APD paid, which currently sees those flying to the Caribbean pay more than those travelling to California, would be improved, and pledged to address the fact that private jets do not pay APD.
