Delayed Flights

Passengers travelling with Jet2.com last year suffered the longest delays of any major British airline, according to a new study.  The low-cost carrier had an average delay of more than 35 minutes on flights to and from British airports, with 15% of its flights more than one hour late.  More than half of its flights failed to arrive or depart within 15 minutes of the scheduled time.

It is the second year in succession that Jet2.com has finished bottom of the survey.

Analysis of 35 different airlines, conducted by the website Flightontime.info, using official Civil Aviation Authority figures, revealed Bmi Regional, a subsidiary of Bmi, to be the best performing airline.  It had an average delay of 7.1 minutes, with 89.7% of its flights arriving or departing within 15 minutes of schedule.

The airline has been named the most punctual airline for the last seven years, and was followed by Lincolnshire-based Eastern Airways, City Jet and the Belgian airline VLM.  British Airways finished 20th in the study, with an average delay of just over 15 minutes and with three quarters of its flights arriving or departing within 15 minutes of schedule, ahead of Bmibaby (25th), easyJet (31st), Virgin Atlantic (33rd) and Monarch (34th).

Flybe and Ryanair were the best performing low-cost airlines, finishing 13th and 15th on the list, respectively.

Still won't beat Air Asia- by far the best.
