It appears that Kandy is making the most of the cricket matches being held at the ground near to the town by holding visitors and cricket fans to ransom. We've wifey has made several enquiries and those that bother to reply are often doubling or even trebling their on-line, advertised prices.
At the time of our visit, there is only one game left to watch- how many travelling Zimbabwe or Pakistan fans are likely to to turn up for a game that will have no bearing on qualification? I don't mind paying a premium on the match day, possibly even the night before but to be quoted LNR 5 000/night for all five nights (usual price LNR 2 000 to LNR 3 000/night) i staking the piss.
Either they get less greedy and more realistic or we can forget about visiting. Besides, seen one mountain, seen 'em all...
