Notes

- Myanmar is GMT + 6.5 hours.  It's unusual to gain the extra 30 minutes on Thailand but it makes it darker at night earlier and lighter in the mornings.

- The currency here is the Kyat, which is pronounced as "chat" and uses the symbol Ks.  Depending on where you change your US dollars you can expect anything from 800 - 950 and we use ~1425 to the pound.  Only pristine American bills are accepted (and we've had some returned which felt very harsh) and you will get change back in Kyats.  The majority will look. smell and feel like second hand bog paper; not pleasant at all.  :o)

- 75% of cars, trucks and buses are RHS drive, which is odd as they drive on the right.  We have yet to see one scooter or motorbike on the road and wonder if they are banned/illegal?

- Around half the men were the traditional skirt style sarong.  However, the item is not a flat sheet but an continual hoop which they step into, draw up and then tie off with a knot at the front with a fold.  Expect to see several readjustments over the course of the day; they are quite happy to have a fiddle and a re-pack irrespective of where they are.
