Leaving Thailand and Landing in Myanmar

Easy-peasy.

We picked up Ross en route to the airport (he had to fly down to KL to re-new his business visa) and paid around THB 220 for the cab.  Not too bad.

We also used the Air Asia check in kiosk for the first time as they have revamped the procedure and one no longer has to swipe one's passport (it never worked; most frustrating) as we only had hand luggage and it saved us time queuing to check-in.  Immigration and security flashed by, the plane was already on the ground, so we took off on time and landed early in Yangon with Air Asia.  The plane was less than half full and so we could sprawl out for the 70 minute flight.

Getting through at the other end was simple too although Immigration looked very hard at our visa as it only had two days left before expiry.  However, all went well and we were approached by a chap as we headed towards Customs.  He helped us through and arranged a cab to take us to our hotel.  The taxi driver knew the location without the usual charade and we agreed US$ 6 (it's around a fiver but we avoided all the aggro of getting attacked by other cabbies wanting our business so well worth it) for the near forty minute drive.  Again, not too bad.

All in all, effortless.
