Bizarre Goals Part 2

Darren Bent
Sunderland v Liverpool, Premier League, 2009
Liverpool were on the receiving end of a bizarre goal last season when Sunderland's Darren Bent saw his tame shot deflect off a (Liverpool) beach ball and past a bewildered Pepe Reina. The goal was technically illegal (the referee should have judged the goal as 'outside interference' and stopped play), but it was allowed to stand.

If there was ever an argument for the existence of Karma this is it. While Sunderland moan about Kuyt's goal they should remember how they celebrated Darren Bent's bizarre effort last season. The England striker saw his tame shot deflect off a (Liverpool) beach ball and past a bewildered Pepe Reina. The goal was technically illegal (the referee should have judged the goal as 'outside interference' and stopped play), but it was allowed to stand.
