Finally we arrive at the show piece of the event, the final in Mumbai later today. I doubt anyone can be upset with the finalists, India and Sri Lanka battling it out for the ultimate in the sport's accolades and both teams stand a fair chance of victory.
India will go in as favourites of course, with their fanatical home crowds behind them. They have a strong batting line up and a reasonable bowling edge. Likewise Sri Lanka cannot be ruled out simply. Both teams also have a mega star in their midsts. Sachin Tendulkar for India and Muttiah Muralitharan for SL. Both deserve a winner's medal but sadly that will only be going to one of them.
I'm not fussed who does win, just that it's a worthy final, no one gets hurt and its played in the spirit of the sport, despite the high stakes. I do have a sneaking suspicion that SL may edge it though, which means I've just dolled out the kiss of death...
