The lure of new number plates failed to start a surge in new car sales last month.  Sales in March 2011, with new "11 plate" totalled 366 101- a 7.9% dip on the March 2010 figure, the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders (SMMT) said.  Mind you, the March 2010 total was boosted by the tail-end of the Government's car scrappage scheme.  These were the top-selling models in March 2011:

2. Ford Focus

3. Vauxhall Corsa

4. Vauxhall Astra

5. Volkswagen Golf

6. Vauxhall Insignia

7. Volkswagen Polo

8. Peugeot 207

9. Mini

10.BMW 3 Series
