Don't Leave Us Hanging

Quite literally another 100m up from the first optician we had tried (almost opposite Lucky Supermarket) we found King Optics which was staffed by what seemed to be the owners' children.

We were immediately attended to by three staff (who brought out stools for us to sit on), all young enough to be sitting their 11+ exams next summer, and wifey was treated to an array of frame styles with a running commentary of how they looked, what features they had and general pleasantry but without being gushing or intrusive.

While this was being done, one of the chaps, just about old enough to having passed his cycling proficiency test had taken wifey's original glasses to check their strength and finally, once she had decided on the style of frame(s) he invited her back for a computerised eye test to confirm her settings.  Both checks concurred and showed wifey's eye were not worsening and he then asked her which pair she would like.

In the end, neither of us could decide which were better as they were both so good.  They were the "rimless" style that she has always worn and really suit her, and they are modern, lightweight and very stylish.  One pair are a little more robust but each pair looked great- we ordered both sets.

Certainly madam, two pairs of prescription glasses can be ready for you by 17:00, would that be suitable?  Eh, that was just around four hours away, you can make them in that time?  Of course, see you in a little while.

I'll keep the cost of the new glasses from you just a little longer- first check out the merchandise...
