Wifey's been looking at a pair of new glasses and has rather rued not doing so in India when we were there, as Sharon, her sister, has done in the past. She picked up a great pair of modern bi-focals at well under £100 which really suit her.
Mrs ktelontour has been looking around in Thailand where she bought her last pair some three years ago, but prices have gone up, budgets have reduced (worsening exchange and interest rates) and in the end she decided to get her current pair fully refurbished for a rather nifty THB 100 (two quid). They may not be a new pair but they still look good and more importantly, she cam see properly.
However, we thought that as we're here for some time, we could at least check out some options and if there was something suable, we'd be here long enough for them to manufacture the lenses before we had to leave. Besides, maybe we could pick up a bargain?
The first shop we tried yesterday kinda put the kibosh on that theory. With just the frames starting at $150 and no indication of how much the lenses would set us back, we legged it, feeling quite shocked. Nearly a hundred quid just for the frames? That was shocking.
Until we went into the above titled shop- King Optics...
