If there is one defining action we took in the past 365 days, it was to open up bank accounts in New Zealand and Thailand.  We picked the ANZ as they were open on a Saturday afternoon, they offered us an account with on-line access within an hour of taking a seat but best of all, they also gave us nearly 7% interest rates with just 0.02% non-res tax.  We couldn't get our cash out of the UK fast enough...

The Bangkok Bank was the recommendation of Khun Saeri and Ross, another good friend we've made here in the capital and again, we had account sorted within an hour.  A simple passbook, an ATM card with a large daily limit and the ability to transfer cash from NZ to Thailand at the push of the button.

No more getting charged £3 to use a Thai ATM and another fiver by the Nationwide, this time we keep our cash.  :o)
