Censorship on the TV

Clearly the television transmissions we receive are not directly from Myanmar and come from Malaysia, the Philippines and European satellites.

Movies 5 is one we watch most and suspect it's from Malaysia as the censorship is quite brutal.  No snogging, no bad language and certainly no lewd behaviour on screen, but sometimes they go to far and you miss half of the filum.

What made me chuckle though was watching the Ipcress File (classic Len Deighton book and starring Michael Caine as Harry Palmer working for the MoD) which is quite dated and had some antics the Malays certainly didn't approve off.

The mini skirt's hemline was blurred, as was a girlie calendar hanging on a wall and amusingly anyone smoking had their fag blacked out, whether in the mouth or simply being held between the fingers.
