Part of the pleasure of living in Asia is the absolutely delicious foods on offer and we have been enjoying all manner of delightful dishes on our travels. Not only is the food superb, but the cost is also an added bonus (some prices are obscenely cheap and we feel guilty at times) and this allows us to eat well and keep within our self imposed budgets.
Myanmar most certainly has some great local dishes but it also has this rather unfortunate custom (as in with Malaysia) of serving most main courses cold. They will cook great vats of scoff and then leave it on display for the day under a feeble light bulb in the vain hope it will keep the chill off. I'm OK with this, but the concept of re-heating a dish when ordered seems to have passed them by without registering a second thought.
I'd love to pile into a chicken curry or fish stew but not if it's barely warm enough to thaw out a Polo mint. Nor do I expect microwaves to be readily used, but surely a couple of spoons of the food can be vaguely swirled around a wok and then brought out with some rice or noodles?
Very disappointing.
