Buddhist monks are not an uncommon sight in Asia but for most of the time we recognise them in their orange robes. Here they favour differing colours, with the most common so far being maroon, although pink is also another popular choice, and we see lots of monks out and about accepting food from the local shops to take back to their monasteries.
Unfortunately, the younger monks (male children, perhaps 10-12?) seem to be a tad more aggressive when it comes to seeking donations and we've been almost accosted while eating to have a bowl shoved in our faces with a menacing stare and some unrecognisable speech.
The first time we acquiesced but a couple of blocks later we bumped into the same chap and he again made his demands. Erm, sod off you little get. We've already been mugged off once by you earlier so run along and practise your "peaceful" life elsewhere, sonny.
